How to Choose the Right Health Insurance for Your Journey to Mars
Are you looking to visit Mars but aren’t quite sure what your best health insurance options are? I’ve been trying to solve this and thought I’d share some of my findings.
A quick google search brought up a company named AXA but they don’t seem to be offering health insurance.
Now if you get a job with NASA you can get insurance through the government, so this may be an option if you are looking to go the classic Astronaut route. However if you prefer to be a commercial astronaut you may want to look at the options provided by Blue Origin, SpaceX, and Virgin Galactic prior to choosing which organization to work for.
For Inspiration4 mission in 2021, mission commander Jared Isaacman, who started an air force training company called Draken International. According to a Glassdoor review, they have standard health insurance.
I’d assume the same is generally true for other companies. Astronauts who win bids to join Blue Origin must bring their own insurance.
